first post: preparation

It is 51 days until I leave to study in Japan.  Well, roughly, I haven't actually got my acceptance letter or booked tickets or done much of anything yet.  Except paperwork.  So far it's all been paperwork - essays about long term study plans, forms to get free money, and that kind of thing.  The whole application process has been a bit painful, to be honest, and I'm still expecting everything to fall through at the last minute.  I met with two of the blokes from Rikkyo last year... the day of my Japanese oral exam?  Or possibly the day my Asian Studies essay was due?  I just remember being very stressed, but they were lovely and gave me handy full colour brochures about the university, so that was nice.

I'm expecting my official acceptance letter this week and once I get that there will be heaps to do.  For now I'm just working and trying to save money.  And making lists, because lists are awesome.

THINGS TO DO ASAP:

* find out what I need to do about taking medication into Japan
* find a yellow skirt to wear to Kokuritsu when Arashi play this year.  Also yellow beads.
* learn more kanji
* sort out my clothes
* defer operation

THINGS TO DO ONCE I GET MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER:

* find a cute, conveniently located and affordable flat
* book flights!  Also get travel insurance
* book flights to take Gemma to Mum's
* go see the wonderful Lyle in the humanities office and get my subjects fixed up

THINGS TO DO ONCE I GET MY CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY:

* get visa stamp thingie from the consulate
* apply for leave from work
* get haircut

I am sure there are tonnes of things I'm forgetting or don't even know about.  But I'm sure it will all work out fine.
